The near and the elsewhere

‘THE NEAR AND THE ELSEWHERE’ is a series of silk screen paintings came about through an interest in peripheral spaces in both city and rural environments: the wastelands and quarries, the backyards and refuse heaps, the station platforms and lay-bys, where all the chance meetings occur in the possibility of continuing adventure. Subject matter which seem like trash are represented in such a way that they become exemplary. At the side lines of modernity, there is beauty in the disregarded and discarded expressed with a signification to what ancient places and rhythms evoke. Transit points and temporary abodes have become centre stage in the game of identity and relations. In perpetual transit, individuals itineraries converge, driving down motorways and pacing through underground passageways.
